We're seeking an experienced Senior Project Management Consultant to support the delivery of complex programmes across Defence and other highly regulated sectors. This role is ideal for a Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (P3M) professional with strong delivery and assurance expertise gained within Defence, Government, or a similarly complex environment.

The Role
You will provide senior level programme and project support across a range of client engagements. You will bring significant expertise in programme governance, planning, controls, risk and issue management, reporting, benefits management and delivery assurance, helping clients improve delivery performance and achieve strategic outcomes.
Working independently you will provide constructive challenge, independent advice, practical solutions and deliver credible advice and recommendations to senior stakeholders across complex programmes and portfolios.
What Success Will Look Like in Your First 6 Months

Build trusted relationships with clients, suppliers and key stakeholders, becoming a valued advisor who can influence decisions and drive collaboration across complex programme environments.

Contribute to the successful delivery of programmes and projects by supporting effective governance, planning, risk management and assurance activities, helping clients improve performance and achieve their objectives.

Provide insightful, value-driven recommendations, working across delivery, commercial and supplier teams to manage dependencies, address challenges and support informed decision-making.

Support Whitetree's growth by strengthening client relationships, identifying opportunities and contributing to bids, proposals and solutions that deliver value for clients and the business.
Skills & experience required
-
Significant experience delivering Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (P3M) services

Experience working within Defence, Government or similarly regulated environments.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with experience supporting senior decision-makers in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

Commercial awareness and understanding of how procurement strategies, contractual arrangements, supplier performance, and value-for-money considerations influence programme delivery, governance, risk, and outcomes.

Exposure to training delivery, capability development or workforce readiness programmes would be advantageous

Experience contributing to business development activities, including client relationship management, opportunity identification, proposal writing, bid support and account growth.

Relevant project, programme or portfolio management qualification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2®, MSP®, AgilePM®, MoP®, P3O® or equivalent).

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Current SC clearance or willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check

Willingness and ability to work from home and travel for client engagements, including overnight stays away from home around the UK when required
