The Role
The Project Manager will provide project management skills to the planning and implementation of key transformation programmes across Defence projects and other sectors. You will play an integral role in solving client problems, delivering key projects and working collaboratively with the client team including:

Influencing and supporting project delivery through planning, monitoring and controlling.

Managing and successfully delivering all contractual requirements within agreed budgets and to performance standards.

Interacting with project teams to define, interrogate and develop the scope of work.

Developing strong collaborative relationships with Whitetree’s clients and partners.

Promoting and encouraging positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Set up and maintain project governance frameworks and processes.
-
Provide regular status updates to senior stakeholders, including dashboards, RAG status, and progress reports.

Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices within the consultancy.

Support internal bid processes by contributing to proposals, resourcing plans, timelines, and delivery approach

Apply consultancy best practice and project methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) to ensure consistent quality.

Mentor and support junior consultants and project managers to build capability across the delivery function.
Skills & experience required
-
Defence sector experience is essential, and we also welcome candidates who bring additional expertise from other sectors such as infrastructure, energy, transport, or technology.

Experience of establishing reporting and assurance frameworks.

Experience of compiling completion evidence to support regulatory requirements.

A skilled leader, leading by example and fostering a high-performance culture.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills up to Board level.

A positive and self-motivated attitude with a collaborative and compassionate nature.

A flexible and driven mindset with confidence to embrace challenges.

Ability to make sound and timely business decisions.

PM qualification, ideally in AgilePM or Scrum; PRINCE2, APM or MSP advantageous.

Current right to live and work in the UK.

Current SC clearance or willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check.

Willingness and ability to work from home and travel for client engagements, including overnight stays away from home around the UK (for example, Bristol area) when required.
