The role
Our Solutions Engineering team are committed to shaping the development of existing and future complex systems that support major UK defence assets, with ambitious plans to grow our capability into adjacent markets such as Health & Energy.
As a Head of Capability you will lead, develop and grow the Solutions Engineering capability including cultivating a supportive, inclusive and inspiring team environment. You’ll uphold Whitetree values and drive the continued success of our Solutions Engineering people, projects and clients including:
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery: Providing Solutions Engineering Consultancy services to Whitetree Clients.
- Team Leadership: Providing exceptional team and technical leadership including work allocation, performance evaluation, recruitment, staff training and mentoring.
- Client Engagement: Resolution of project challenges, providing coaching and expert advice.
- Business Growth: Working with our Business Managers, you will support business development and the continued growth of our capability and services.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring successful project delivery and high customer satisfaction.
- Collaboration and Business Development: Collaborating to identify and secure new business opportunities, including leading bids to build a pipeline and support growth targets.
- Innovation and Improvement: Fostering a culture of innovation, excellence and continuous improvement for Solutions Engineering, Whitetree and its clients.
- Reporting: Reporting regularly to the Technical Services Director on budget performance, challenges, threats and opportunities.
Key Requirements
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following:
- Engineering management & Leadership
- Solution / Enterprise Architecture
- Systems Engineering
- Model Based Systems Engineering
- Requirements management & verification
- Experience in engineering leadership roles and driving growth and performance in industry or consulting.
- Experience of successfully leading growing, large-scale projects and teams.
- Defence sector experience and/or experience of / interest in health, energy.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Financial and commercial acumen skilled in proposal development and estimating, budget management and cost control, able to meet company KPI’s (revenue, utilisation, margin etc).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Current right to live and work in the UK.
- Current SC clearance or willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check*.
- Willingness and ability to work from home and travel for client engagements, including overnight stays away from home around the UK when required
